As an important background for all projects in ArCHe, work package Coastal territories and environmental threats will study and teach about the diversity of coastal environments across Europe. It combines geomorphology, oceanography, geology and archaeology.

The work package will quantify the major processes involved in coastal morphological dynamics and their deep-time perspective past – present – future.

It will provide advanced knowledge and practical training in the use of pioneer methodologies and tools for coastal and estuarine studies, such as simulation software products – the Coastal Modelling System (SMC) – for a better understanding of coastal systems, IHData and GIS studies.

It will also address the main threats, as well as methods to practically protect coastal archaeological sites in the present and future.

Synergies

WP2 has strong synergies with WP3 and WP5.
